Dr.
Mohd Daud Bakar is the CEO of Amanie
Business Solutions Sdn. Bhd. Prior to heading
Amanie, he was the Deputy Rector (Student
Affairs and Development) and an Associate
Professor at the International Islamic University
Malaysia. He received his first degree in
Shariah from the University of Kuwait in 1988
and obtained his PhD from the University of
St. Andrews, United Kingdom in 1993. In 2002,
he went on to complete his external Bachelor
of Jurisprudence at University of Malaya.
He has published more than 30 articles in
various academic journals and presented more
than 200 papers in various conferences both
local and abroad.
Dr Mohd Daud is the authority
in Islamic Legal theory and Islamic Finance
in Malaysia. He is currently the Chairman
of the Shariah Advisory Council of the Central
Bank of Malaysia and also a member of the
Shariah Advisory Council for the Securities
Commission of Malaysia. He is also a member
of Shariah board of the Accounting and Auditing
Organization for Islamic Financial Institutions
(AAOIFI) (Bahrain), International Islamic
Financial Market (IIFM) (Bahrain), Dow Jones
Islamic Market Index (New York), Oasis Asset
Management (Cape Town, South Africa), Unicorn
Investment Bank (Bahrain), Guidance Financial
(USA), BNP Paribas and in other financial
institutions both local and abroad. Apart
from that, Dr Mohd Daud is also actively advising
in capital market product structuring such
as Sukuks both locally and abroad.
